Terra Nova II: Silent Night
Terra Nova returns after last year's resounding success with a reflective programme beginning with silence. John Cage's 4'33" is one of the most significant works in the 20th Century and continues to provoke debate amongst musicologists and aestheticians. Local composers Will Roberts, Lydia Pugh and James Keirle present premiere performances alongside works by Lutoslawski, Britten and Pärt.

Terra Nova Meets Guernsey Sinfonietta
Terra Nova, Guernsey's modern music collective, meets the Guernsey Sinfonietta this summer, presenting modern music with full orchestral forces in a free concert at the Town Church. Highlights include Casey-Joe Rumens performing a new commission by Chiara Beebe, a new composition by Josh Cottam, Copland's Appalachian Spring and the Korngold Cello Concerto with Noelle Grand.

Terra Nova: Maximising the Minimal
The Vine Quartet come to Guernsey for an exciting programme centred around Steve Reich's Different Trains for quartet and tape. A comparison is invited between the sparseness of Reichs' writing and that of Webern's in works that span the entire output of this great German composer. Chiara Beebe will also present her new work for quartet and tape that makes use of Town Church's space and acoustics.

Terra Nova: Responses

Inspired by Berio's Sequenzas, their individual experiences are presented in short 'responses' for solo instruments before the ensemble comes together in a rousing finale.
